Celebrations and Successes
Congratulations to Joyce Obeid for receiving the Canadian Pediatric Society’s Young Investigator Award! This award is given for accomplishments in research in fields that benefit child and youth.
Katherine Morrison, Co-PI of the Neighbourhood environments and weight management outcomes in the Canadian Pediatric Weight Management Registry (CANPWR), was recently highlighted with an awardee profile by CIHR
Congratulations Marie Pigeyre for receiving an early career researcher internal grant from PHRI. Her research will work to identify novel biomarkers to predict weight loss & cardiometabolic outcomes after bariatric surgery.
Congratulations to Esha Karia, BHSc Level IV, for receiving a Faculty of Health Sciences Research Centres and Institutes (RCI) Summer Student Scholarship. Under the supervision of Constantine Samaan, her project will look at virtual interventions to improve metabolic health in children with chronic illness.
Congratulations to Maya Kshatriya, a MSc candidate under the supervision of Constantine Samaan, who received two awards at the Faculty of Health Sciences Plenary:
- Outstanding Achievement Award: This award recognizes graduate students in a Master’s or Doctoral program who have made outstanding achievements, as judged by their graduate program. This award is given to no more than 5% of all students in a Master’s or Doctoral program affiliated with the Faculty of Health Sciences.
- Innovation and Entrepreneurship Award: This award is for graduate students in areas of health science who have demonstrated innovation and entrepreneurship in their studies, such as making an outstanding discovery, patent, evidence-based practice or knowledge translation. This award recognized Maya’s work on the covid19childhooddiabetes.com website.
