Using cell-free placental DNA methylation to predict IUGR at delivery
Dr. Samantha Wilson is a new-ish (July 2022) Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at McMaster University. Dr. Wilson completed her PhD in Medical Genetics at the University of British Columbia in 2018. To further her training in computational biology and bioinformatics, Dr. Wilson went on to complete a postdoctoral fellowship under Dr. Michael Hoffman at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. Her research program at McMaster focuses on using genomic and epigenomic data to understand the etiology of placental dysfunction and to develop non-invasive methods to assess placental health.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand how we can use cfDNA to assess placental health in pregnancy
- Understand how DNA methylation can give us insight into placental health
- Learn about developing machine learning models for prediction of intrauterine growth restriction
