Mehnaz Munir – PhD(c) – de Souza Lab
Mehnaz Munir is a Doctoral student specializing in Global Health at McMaster University. Holding both a medical degree and a master’s
degree in Public Health from Pakistan, she brings a wealth of expertise to her current pursuits. Currently engaged as a Graduate Teaching
Assistant at McMaster University and concurrently serving as a Research Assistant at the Population Health Research Institute, Mehnaz
actively contributes to the academic and research endeavors within her field.
Her scholarly pursuits center on public health matters, with a particular focus on non-communicable diseases and metabolic health.
Mehnaz Munir’s dedication and scholarly contributions have been duly recognized, exemplified by her receipt of the Outstanding
Achievement Award and International Trainee Award for Excellence in 2023, conferred upon her by McMaster University.
Nazli Robin – PhD(c) – Schertzer Lab
Nazli Robin is a Ph.D. student in the laboratory of Dr. Jonathan Schertzer at McMaster University. She completed her bachelor’s degree at Toronto Metropolitan University, where she began her research career in the laboratory of Dr. Costin Antonescu, investigating the role of cell surface receptors in the progression and metastasis of breast cancer. Her current research focuses on studying the side effects of cholesterol-lowering medication, statins. During her master’s degree, she investigated the mechanisms underlying statin-induced myopathy. Upon transitioning to her Ph.D., she continued her work on statin side effects and is currently studying the mechanisms behind statin-induced diabetes. When she is not in the lab, she enjoys playing with her dog, reading, and spending time with her family
